The Midlands Youth Apprenticeship (MYA) is an innovative program co-developed by the Columbia Chamber and Midlands Technical College to bridge the gap between education and industry, creating a seamless talent pipeline for area businesses. Through this partnership, MYA allows students to take regular high school classes while also enrolling in dual-credit courses at Midlands Technical College two to three days a week. Over two years, participants graduate with a high school diploma, a specialized certification from Midlands Technical College, credentialing from the U.S. Department of Labor, and two years of paid work experience, making them ready to contribute on Day One in their chosen fields.

 

This program is vital for both students and businesses, providing young talent with the skills and experience needed to thrive in the workforce while ensuring companies have access to a well-prepared, skilled workforce.
