In 2023, the Columbia Chamber launched the FORWARD TOGETHER initiative to help propel the region toward a sustainable and progressive future. This three-year program of work was developed to address some of the most pressing opportunities and challenges facing the Midlands, including the enhancement of local, state and federal advocacy efforts.
Through its advocacy efforts, the Columbia Chamber communicates the needs and priorities of the business community to elected officials at all levels of government.
Key areas of focus include:
- Creating a regional vision and plan
- Continuing to build support for local military installations
- Cultivating a competitive business climate for the Midlands
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with local, state and federal government
- Partnering with K-12 schools, institutions of higher education and technical colleges to support a competitive workforce
Through public policy and advocacy, the Columbia Chamber works to create an environment that supports sustained prosperity and future success while strengthening the Midlands as a place to live, work and play.
