LEADERSHIP COLUMBIA SET TO UNVEIL REVAMPED FREE MEDICAL CLINIC AT MAY 5 RE-LAUNCH EVENT
COLUMBIA, SC (April 2025) – The Columbia Chamber’s Leadership Columbia Class of 2025 (LC25), in partnership with The Free Medical Clinic, is delighted to announce a Grand Re-Launch Event to celebrate the completion of significant renovations to The Free Medical Clinic of Columbia at 1875 Harden Street. The Grand Re-Launch event, organized by LC25, will take place on Monday, May 5, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., and will feature food, entertainment and comments from local leaders. All are invited.
As part of the program’s annual class project, LC25 selected the clinic to receive a comprehensive transformation aimed at increasing healthcare access and enhancing the patient experience for underserved populations in the Midlands.
The LC25 project enhancements included:
- Clinic Rebranding & Visibility – Improving the clinic’s public image and community engagement through strategic rebranding efforts.
- Exterior Improvements – Enhancing safety, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal for both patients and staff.
- Interior Renovations – Creating a more comfortable, welcoming lobby and patient experience through thoughtful interior design upgrades.
This year’s project is rooted in the class’s commitment to providing maximum impact to our community while leaving a lasting legacy. The initiative focuses on reducing strain on the broader healthcare system, while fostering a more dignified, secure, and welcoming environment for patients who rely on The Free Medical Clinic.
“The partnership with Leadership Columbia’s Class of 2025 is a testament to the power of community collaboration,” said Freddie Strange, Executive Director of The Free Medical Clinic. “Together, we are fostering a healthier and more compassionate community by ensuring access to vital services for those in need.”
This transformation continues Leadership Columbia’s legacy of community impact through collaborative partnerships. Each class, consisting of approximately 60 professionals, selects one nonprofit to support with strategic improvements and resources.
“Leadership Columbia’s Class of 2025 is honored to work alongside The Free Medical Clinic,” said Chris Johnson, LC25 Co-Executive Chair. “Our goal is to support the clinic’s mission and build stronger connections across our community by ensuring equitable access to healthcare.”
“This project aligns with our belief that strong communities are rooted in compassion and access to essential services,” added Michael Shirley, LC25 Co-Executive Chair. “We’re proud to help create a lasting, positive impact for those the clinic serves.”
“It has been inspiring to watch LC25 make such meaningful progress on their class project,” said Nic Collins, Leadership Columbia Advisory Board Member. “Their work will benefit the community for years to come.”
