Leadership Columbia Class of 2019 Applications Due March 16
Leadership Columbia is a developmental program for professionals looking to enrich their knowledge of the local Midlands and expand their knowledge through hands-on experiences on topics, such as education, politics and government, economic development, arts and culture, and many more. Each year, 60 candidates are chosen based on community involvement, capacity for leadership, commitment to the Midlands, and an interest in enhancing their capabilities. The program was founded by the Columbia Chamber in 1972 and now has over 2,000 alumni serving communities across the United States.
To kick off the new application season, Leadership Columbia has started a social media campaign that features Leadership Columbia Alumni Association (LCAA) testimonials. This campaign can be found on Facebook and Twitter. With so many different topics and hands-on experiences, there is something for everyone to learn and take away from the program.
Since 1983, each Leadership Columbia class has been required to brainstorm, plan, and organize a community project that betters Columbia. The current class just announced their project, in which they will be working with MIRCI’s Project HEAT to furnish and landscape a new transitional home for young men and holding housewarming parties to collect donations on MIRCI’s registry. Read more about this project and other past projects in this ColaToday article.
Applications for the Class of 2019 are only open until March 16, so go ahead and get started today! If you have questions or concerns, please contact Charlotte Bian-Lingle by email or at 803.733.1146.
