September 2018: SC Chamber of Commerce Grassroots Tour

Guest Speaker: Ted Pitts, SC Chamber of Commerce
Summary:
On Tuesday, September 4th, the Chamber Issues Forum hosted the SC State Chamber of Commerce Grassroots Program designed to seek input from area businesses on the critical issues they would like to see addressed in the upcoming 2019 Legislative Session. This was the first in a series of statewide meetings.
Ted Pitts, Executive Director, of the State Chamber provided an overview of highlights from 2018 and identified opportunities for 2019. Topics of conversation included Act 388 as it relates to schools and property tax for owner occupied homes; workforce and skills development; and education-related issues such as teacher retention, financial support, and campus safety.
Throughout the year, you can expect the Columbia Chamber to:
- Continue to monitor the activities in local councils and encourage transparency
- Work with the SC Chamber and local Chambers to ensure our Public Policy Agenda addresses statewide concerns and local issues.
