June 2019: Attracting Visitors and Businesses to Columbia

Guest Speakers: Jenna Bridgers, City Center Partnership, and Jason Outman, Experience Columbia SC

Summary:
The Chamber’s June Issues Forum featured Jenna Bridgers, City Center Partnership, and Jason Outman, Experience Columbia, discussing key components to successfully marketing Columbia as a destination location and as a great place to grow and expand your business.  The number of visitors coming to Columbia with Fort Jackson, to visit the Zoo, and to see our numerous attractions is at an all-time high. Growth in the Main Street District is especially rewarding in that it brings more and more people to the district which in turns enhances the livability and also encourages more millennials to stay in Columbia which builds our talent pool.

Throughout the year, you can expect the Columbia Chamber to:

  • Support the efforts of both Experience Columbia and City Center Partnership as they promote downtown growth and activities.
  • Continue to work with local governments on business friendly practices that encourage growth.
  • Maintain close working relationships with the leaders of the entertainment districts to ensure that safety, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment is sustained in each of the districts.
