Columbia offers visitors Southern hospitality with a variety of cultural opportunities; including a nationally ranked Zoo, an active arts community, museums, recreation, semi pro sports, and university sports all within a college town atmosphere.

The arts community offers events for all tastes. Columbia is home to Columbia’s Children’s Theater, Trustus and Workshop Theater all offering a variety of theatrical performances. Live concerts can also be viewed at small venues from Township Auditorium, the Koger Center and Newberry Opera House to larger venues such as the Colonial Center. The Colonial Center has attracted major acts to the area.

Museums in the area include the South Carolina State Museum, Columbia Museum of Art, EdVenture Children’s Museum, McKissek Museum and several regional museums.

Recreation in the area vary from boating on Lake Murray, rafting the Saluda, outdoor performances at the Three Rivers Greenway, and local festivals. Columbia is home to the Five Points St. Patrick’s Day festival which is known as one of the largest celebrations in the Southeast drawing over 30,000 attendees. Columbia also offers over 100 local, regional and state parks.

Columbia’s Inferno is a Professional East Coast Hockey League Team, an NHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks plays weekly during the hockey season. The Columbia Blowfish is a new addition to the Columbia sporting scene. The Blowfish team is a member of the Coastal Plain League. The local universities and colleges offer men’s and women’s sporting events throughout the year.
