Tags and Registration for your automobile:
• New residents have 30 days to apply for new tags.
• Proof of liability insurance, title, registration card and proof
of property tax payment are required.

SC Driver’s License:
• New residents have 90 days to apply for a license after moving to
South Carolina.
• If new residents have a certified driver’s license from another
state, they will not be required to take a written exam, only an eye
exam.
• Residents within the state have 10 days to report a change of
address.
• To obtain a license for the first time, a birth certificate and
Social Security Card must be presented.
