Cromer's Celebrates 75 years!

On January 30th Cromer’s had a Magic Show with magician John Tudor to kick-off 75 years in business. Third generation owners of Cromer’s opened a concealed warehouse off Huger Street to prove that this family owned business is still a magical place. Tickets were sold for two shows and proceeds went to the Ronald McDonald House of the Midlands.

The party drew kids in pajamas and galoshes. Everyone was willing to get on stage, waving eagerly to volunteer, while parents and grandparents alike enjoyed the free popcorn and festivities.

On Friday, December 11th, Goodwill hosted the Grand Reopening of the store located at 6642 Garners Ferry Road in Columbia.  The store features a brand-new Goodwill Job Connection, which will help connect the community with resources and employment opportunities.

Services available at no charge in Goodwill Job Connections include access to resources like computers and the internet, fax machines, telephones, and job leads and referrals.  A trained employment specialist is on site to assist individuals with their job search.  Additional services available through Goodwill Job Connections include resume development, interviewing skills, and classes such as Basic Computer Literacy and English as Second Language.  Goodwill Job Connections are also a resource for employers.  Goodwill can connect employers with pre-screened applicants, provide space for on-site interviewing, or organize and conduct Job Fairs to help fill open positions.

“Ultimately, Goodwill’s mission is to provide the support people need to become independent, contributing citizens in our community,” said Patrick Michaels, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC.  “The Job Connection makes it easy for someone to find the resources they need and receive guidance to make their efforts most effective.”
